Dear Turbine User Group Member,
My name is Peter Dufresne Sr and as founder of EPT, I'm excited to
announce two new resources now available to you through the Frame 5 User
Group. The first is an informative video that demonstrates the typical
varnish formation cycle in gas turbines and shows how this same process
can be prevented. The second is our Varnish University Handbook which
can be downloaded from the Frame 5 user group website. This varnish
handbook is a comprehensive 95 page educational guide on the subjects of
lubricant Varnish and EHC control fluid management.
During my 30-year career with TransCanada, I worked closely with turbine
manufacturers, oil companies, and filter companies in an effort to solve
a number of problems, including the challenging and costly issue of
lubricant deposit formation. Not only did we make significant
breakthroughs in lubricant-maintenance techniques, we also saved
millions of dollars annually for their fleet of 200 gas turbines.
Since starting EPT in 1995, we have continued to advance varnish removal
techniques. While the traditional approach makes use of electrostatic
oil cleaners or agglomeration systems, we have moved several steps
forward to not only create a proven system that eliminates the varnish
formation cycle but also keeps the lubricants so pristine that existing
varnish deposits are reabsorbed back into the lubricant and then

The 3rd Edition of our Varnish University Handbook can be downloaded
from the user group website at

I encourage you to use these resources on the Turbine User Group
website. As a leader in this field, we will continue to create
industrial fluid-management systems that improve reliability,
profitability, and reduce environmental impact. Our services, solutions,
and products are used by companies worldwide and are now available
through over 100 distributors.
